The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Central Region, has deepened its engagement with the media through an interactive session aimed at sharing the Company’s strategic focus for 2025–2029 and outlining what it means for customers across the region.

Leading the discussion, the General Manager for the Central Region, Madam Tamara Asomani-Wiafe, described the meeting as an opportunity to openly discuss ECG’s priorities and reaffirm the Region’s commitment to reliable service delivery.

She explained that ECG’s five-year strategy is anchored on improving revenue mobilisation, delivering reliable and quality power supply, reducing system losses, enhancing energy efficiency, improving customer satisfaction, and strengthening operational performance.

Bringing the strategy closer to home, Madam Asomani-Wiafe highlighted practical steps already being implemented in the Central Region. These include deliberate visits to suspended and disconnected accounts, closer monitoring of High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LV) lines, and ongoing upgrades to parts of the distribution network to reduce losses and improve supply stability.

According to her, these measures are not just technical interventions but deliberate efforts to ensure customers receive dependable power while safeguarding the resources needed to sustain operations.

A key highlight of the engagement was the introduction of the New Franchise System. Under this initiative, Meter Readers will now provide additional support to customers, including assisting with bill payment processes. The move is expected to bring services closer to communities, make payment processes more convenient, and improve overall customer experience.

Madam Asomani-Wiafe expressed appreciation to the journalists for their continued partnership and responsible reporting, noting that the media plays a crucial role in keeping the public informed about ECG’s initiatives and progress.

The engagement reflects ECG’s ongoing commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement as it works to serve customers across the Central Region more efficiently and effectively.

Central Region – 6th September 2026

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Central Region, used the 5th Anniversary Central EXPO 2026 as an opportunity to connect with customers, answer their questions and help them make better use of ECG’s services.

Held from August 31 to September 6, 2026, at the Adisadel College Park in Cape Coast, the exhibition brought together a diverse cross-section of customers and members of the public. The event was organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority under the theme, “Celebrating 5 Years of Advancing Trade, Promoting Tourism and Unlocking Opportunities.”

For Md. Tamara Asomani-Wiafe, General Manager Central Region, the exhibition was more than just an opportunity to showcase the Company’s services. It provided a chance to interact directly with customers and understand some of the concerns they face in accessing electricity services.

Visitors to the ECG stand received information and guidance on a range of issues, including meter acquisition, energy conservation, new service connections, billing concerns and the ECG Power App.

Particular attention was given to helping customers embrace ECG’s digital services. New customers were taken through the process of downloading, registering and navigating the ECG mobile app, with the team providing assistance at every step.

Customers were also encouraged to settle outstanding electricity bills. As an added incentive, branded souvenirs were presented to customers who successfully completed the app onboarding process.

The participation marked the first time ECG Central Region had taken part in the Central EXPO, giving the Region an opportunity to engage customers in a more informal and interactive setting.

The Ghana Tourism Authority commended the ECG Communication Team for its professional approach, as well as its efforts to educate and engage customers throughout the exhibition. The Authority encouraged the Region to continue participating in future editions of the EXPO.

The experience reinforced the value of meeting customers where they are, listening to their concerns and helping them find simple and convenient ways to access ECG’s services.
