The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is implementing a Commercial Loss Reduction, and Improved Financial Management Systems projects as part of the Government of Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Program (ESRP). This program is funded through the World Bank’s Program for Results (PforR) and Investment Project Financing (IPF) arrangements.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is pleased to announce the release of four draft documents: the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SE), Environmental and Social Systems Assessment (ESSA) Report, Environmental and Social Management Framework, and Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP). These documents were prepared with our collaborators in accordance with the World Bank's Environmental and Social Standard 10, which emphasizes transparency and public involvement by requiring borrowers to disclose information on environmental and social risks and their mitigation measures.

The SEP outlines our approach to involving stakeholders in the decision-making process, ensuring that their perspectives and knowledge contribute to the development of our projects. The ESSA evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of the legal and regulatory framework of the energy sector to guide environmental and social impact assessments, as well as the institutional set-up and capacity to plan, implement, monitor, and report on environmental and social measures. The ESMF outlines a set of policies, procedures, and guidelines designed to help ensure that the E&S risks and impacts associated with the IPF project are identified and effectively mitigated. The Environmental and Social Commitment Plan summarizes key measures and actions and the timeframe required for the project to meet the requirements of the Bank's Environmental and Social Standards (ESS).

All four draft documents are available for public review and comment. We invite all interested parties, including community members, experts, and stakeholders, to provide their feedback. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the shaping of our projects and to ensure they proceed in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
