Ing. (Mrs) Carlien Dorcas Bou-Chedid

She served as the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) from 2003 until 2010 and was also the 48th President of the Institution, as well as the first female to occupy that position. She obtained BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK in 1983 and an MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics from the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, London, UK in 1999.

She has worked at various times as a Structural Engineer with the Architectural and Engineering Services Corporation (AESC) and as Director, Education and Training, GhIE.

Ing. (Mrs) Carlien Bou-Chedid is the recipient of many awards and honours including the prize for best paper at the Third International Conference on Structural Engineering Analysis and Modelling (SEAM3), 27-29 July 1993 for Paper on Structural Failures within the City of Accra and an EERI-GFDRR Housner Fellow as a member of the first class of Fellows selected by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI). With support from the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.

Ing. Bou-Chedid is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, a member of the Women In Engineering(WiE) Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organisation (WFEO), a member of the Ghana Earthquake Society and an E-Affiliate Member of the Earthquake Society and an E-Affiliate Member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute(EERI). She has published several technical papers to her credit.

Thursday 29 July 2021,  Ing. Carlien Dorcas Bou-Chedid was sworn into office as part of a nine (9) member Governing Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)
